The 1911 census goes online
If you’re curious about who lived in your house 100 years ago, or you’re a family historian then you will pleased to hear the 1911 census is now available online.
The census helps people trace their ancestors and provides a snapshot of a day in their lives, with details of their occupations, housing arrangements and social status.
The 1911 census brings us closer to our ancestors. It was the first to ask women how long they had been married and how many children they had. It is also the oldest census from which the original forms were kept so you can even see your relatives’ handwriting.
