Singers lend their voice to older people's charter

An Older People's Charter has been launched in South Gloucestershire with the help of singing group the Golden Oldies.

The charter sets out what older people can expect from their council and other organisations in terms of treatment and service. It includes the right to be listened to over issues that affect them, treatment with dignity and respect, choice regarding care, and protection from harm and neglect.

Matthew Riddle, the council's spokesman for older people and executive member for community care and housing, said: "It is important that we provide elderly residents with a good level of service and the charter will help to achieve this."
