How to increase your State Pension if you reach State Pension age between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2010, or between 6 April 2010 and 5 April 2015
If both the following apply:
- you have recently reached State Pension age or will soon do so
- you are not expecting a full basic State Pension
Then from 6 April 2009 you may be able to improve your State Pension by paying up to six extra years of voluntary (Class 3) National Insurance contributions for years going back to 1975.
This is in addition to the opportunity you have already to pay voluntary contributions for the last six tax years.
These guides tell you about your options.
