What do I have to do?
If you have not yet claimed your State Pension and want to put off taking it up, you do not need to tell us. If you are already getting your State Pension, but you would like to stop claiming it to earn extra State Pension or a lump sum, you should contact your pension centre.
When do I have to make a choice of either extra State Pension or a lump sum payment?
You only need to make your choice when you want to start claiming State Pension. We will then send a letter explaining how much extra State Pension or lump sum you have built up. You’ll have three months to decide and, while you’re making up your mind, we will pay you your normal weekly State Pension.
